A comfortable place to rest and fresh, local cuisine are two of the cornerstones to a fulfilling cultural experience. We would like to offer you a brief overview of our chosen hotels* and their onsite and surrounding restaurant options!

Malmö: MJ’s Hotel
A perfect place to begin our journey together! Located in the heart of Malmö’s city center, MJ’s Hotel combines a stylish boutique design with easy access to the city’s historic squares, restaurants, and waterfront. The hotel offers a vibrant lobby bar, on-site dining options, and excellent rooms.

Växjö: PM & Vänner Hotel
After a scenic ride by local train through Skåne and Småland, we will arrive in Växjö, where the VPM & Vänner Hotel awaits us. The hotel showcases the best of local Småland hospitality with beautifully designed rooms and a strong regional culinary focus. With multiple on-site dining options, it has in recent years become one of Småland’s most popular gastronomic destinations.

Jönköping:Grand Hotel Jönköping
We continue our journey North and arrive at this historic classic in the center of Jönköping. Grand Hotel Jönköping has been welcoming guests since the early 1900s. With its traditional charm and contemporary comfort it serves as a peaceful retreat for travelers from near and far. It’s a local landmark with elegantly appointed rooms and a long tradition of hospitality.

Gränna: Hotel Gyllene Uttern
After a lakeside drive up the East side of Lake Vättern we arrive at this classic Swedish lakeside hotel with panoramic views of the lake and Visingsö island. With a warm, welcoming atmosphere, it offers comfortable accommodations and an on-site restaurant with a wide variety of regional cuisine.

Stockholm (Södermalm): Hotel RivalAfter our countryside journey through Sweden’s Southeast, we finally arrive at this local jewel in the capital city! A little bit off the beaten path of tourist hotels in Stockholm, Hotel Rival is located in the vibrant Södermalm district, and known for its Art Deco charm and connection to Swedish cultural life. Designed with creativity in mind, it features a bistro, bar, and theatre, making it more than just a place to sleep. The central location will put you close to Stockholm’s old town, waterfront, and lively neighborhoods - all accessible on foot!

Norrtälje (Roslagen): Åtellet Hotell 
Åtellet is a riverfront hotel and restaurant in Norrtälje, a charming town close to the archipelago an hour North of Stockholm. It offers scenic views of the river and Norrtälje’s quaint old-town charm and cobblestone streets. With well-appointed rooms, seasonal menus focusing on fresh local ingredients, and an inviting atmosphere, it captures the essence of a relaxing Swedish retreat. Its combination of modern comfort and very central location makes it a delightful final stop on our Sweden journey.

Cilla Utne

Cilla is the owner and CEO of CCJ since January of 2015. A native of Sweden and a world traveler, she has lived for extended periods in Spain, the UK, Chile and Guatemala and has been based in the US since the late 1990's. She holds an undergraduate in intercultural studies from Stockholm University and an MBA in Sustainability from Presidio Graduate School. Cilla also wears the hats of intercultural trainer and consultant and is also a facilitator of systemic and family constellations. A budding author, she is also working on a trans-generational memoir about her mother’s childhood. Cilla loves nature and the outdoors, good food, yoga, healing and meditation, watching her son's soccer games and taking long walks with her French bulldog Lola. Cilla spends her life living between Bainbridge Island, WA, and Norrtälje, near the archipelago and hour North of Stockholm, Sweden.
