Heart of India
August 12-25, 2008
This journey to fascinating and mysterious India provides
an overview of contemporary and ancient Northern India
with an emphasis on its spiritual heritage. We begin in Delhi and travel by train capturing a glimpse of rural
village India with its mustard and lentil fields mostly
unchanged in over 2,500 years, to Varanasi where we
immerse ourselves in traditional India and become pilgrims
ourselves as we begin to surrender to mother India,
a wonderful teacher of the unteachable. Co-sponsored by Lesley University, with Professors Neal Klein and Jan Wall. Download a printable registration form. For Lesley University students only.
Historic North, Mysticism & the Tribal Omo Valley
Ethiopia, one of the most interesting and exciting
countries in the world, full of history, intrigue,
mysticism and mystery. This journey
is divided into two portions. In the north, we explore
the ancient sacred historic spiritual traditions of Coptic
Christianity that predate Western society by centuries.
(Many say that Ethiopia is the site of the Garden of Eden).
The second portion is an overland adventure into the remote
tribal lands of the south, to visit a people living in
traditional village compounds, far from any
beaten path. This is a journey straight out of
the pages of National Geographic magazine.
The Ethiopians are a people of extraordinary
grace, beauty, strength, resilience and intelligence
whose spiritual and tribal traditions
and sense of cultural and personal dignity
have remained intact through the centuries. In addition to the above we will be visiting projects sponsored by Cross Cultural Journeys Foundation where
travelers will have the optional opportunity to participate in a day of
service at one of our projects. Limited to 15 persons. Call for further
information. Open to all travelers.
